The Baby's Stocking
Hang Up the Baby’s Stocking
by Emily Huntington Miller
Hang up the baby’s stocking.
Be sure you don’t forget!
The dear little dimpled darling,
She’s never seen Christmas yet!
But I’ve told her all about it,
And she opened her big blue eyes,
And I’m sure she understood it —
She looked so funny and wise
So begins a poem I adored as a child. I think I even memorized it but I can’t be sure about that because I was only 5 years old my sister’s first Christmas. Could I really have been that clever? Possibly!
I adore my sister more every year and posting a reminder of this poem from our childhood is my way of saying to her “Thanks for being such a wonderfully ‘funny and wise’ little sister.” (Not to mention my webmaster and tech support extraordinaire.)
Merry Christmas, Janet.

I have no doubt that you were clever enough to memorize a poem when you were only five. 😀
If only I could memorize more than a fraction of it *now*!
I have to admit that I only remembered the first four lines. 🙂
Well, that IS the best part. 🙂
So cute – my aunt sent this to me my baby’s first Christmas! Means a lot whenever I hear it! You two are lucky to have each other 🙂
That’s neat, Pam. And right you are about me and Janet. 🙂
Yes, we are. 🙂
