Another Award Nomination for A Tulip in Winter
The “Early Buzz for A Tulip in Winter“ has continued to grow in the months since its release last spring. The latest exciting news is that the book’s illustrator, Lauren Soloy, has been nominated for the Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Award for the art she created for our picture book biography of folk artist Maud Lewis.
As you can tell from the spread attached to this post — or if you have read the book — you will know how deserving Lauren is of this nomination. Her joyful illustrations that capture the flavour of the long ago Nova Scotia setting and so beautifully emulate Maud’s style couldn’t be a more fitting tribute to this artist who overcame such challenges to create her paintings.
Of course the other finalists are deserving too. Only ten more days till the winner will be announced!
Whatever the result, the program segment of CANSCAIP’s April meeting (by zoom) will feature “Lauren Soloy in conversation with Kathy Stinson.” I can’t wait to meet her!
If you’re a Member or Friend, I hope we’ll see you there. If you’re a writer or illustrator, professional or aspiring, what better time than now to join? Of course any time is a good time, as you’ll see when you check out what CANSCAIP is all about!
