Winter Photography

My Instagram profile identifies me as “A writer of kids’ books with a passion for photography.” This blog post offers you a sampling of pics taken so far this winter (all with my iPhone 11 Plus) that I haven't posted there.

One of my favourite subjects in every season is my dog Georgia, who inspired The Dog Who Wanted To Fly.

I don’t just take pictures on sunny days. This is a field near my home.

Georgia was taking advantage of that sun in her own way. (I warned you she’s one of my favourite subjects.)

I intended to use this tulip in my kitchen as an Instagram teaser for to-be-released-March-7 picture book biography of folk artist Maud Lewis, titled A Tulip in WinterBut I got excited when my advance copy arrived and I spilled the beans there, having forgotten all about my ‘teaser’ intention.

I had so much fun with photo editing here that I can’t tell you what this started out as.

A fringed rosemallow (a type of hibiscus) at the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory, a great place to on a frigid winter day — toasty warm and full of lush greenery and beautiful birds and butterflies.

I'm also happy to bundle up and get outside, especially when there's there's freshly fallen snow and no wind.

Very lovely — but somehow the pot of plants didn’t make it….too bad.

I just read these comments and discovered that the plant photo actually was NOT showing up. It’s been fixed.
