Best Books of the Year
One of things I like about December is perusing various lists of the “best books of the year” to see how many I’ve read and which ones I’d like to read.
Here are my “best books” of the year. Unlike most lists, these are books I read this year, not necessarily published this year. (And no, without Goodreads to help me keep track, I could not possibly produce this list.)
Fiction
My Antonia by Willa Cather
O Pioneers! by Willa Cather
Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier
The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd
Any Known Blood by Lawrence Hill
Strong Hollow by Linda Little
Grist by Linda Little
Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann
All Saints by Kathleen Miller
The Gospel Truth by Caroline Pignat
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman
Time Snatchers by Richard Ungar
Cool Water by Dianne Warren
Non-fiction
How to Be Sick by Toni Bernhard
To Love What Is by Alix Kates Shulman
Yes, I do read non-fiction, but my leaning has been toward fiction ever since I was a kid.
How about you? What were the best books you read this year?

Thanks, I love lists!
Please feel free to add your Best Books list as a comment here, Diana. It's always fun to see what books people are keen on – as a way of discovering new "Books I Want To Read" and of finding out about shared (and differing) tastes.
The only one of these I've read is "The Light Between Oceans," which I loved. Will pin this for future reading ideas.
A number of the titles I'd be happy to lend you sometime, Janet. Happy reading!
