Read by the Sea

What a great way to kick off summer — with a Nova Scotia literary festival!

Kathy Stinson at Read on the Sea

Quite apart from the fun of reading The Man with the Violin accompanied by The Wild City Roses on fiddle, guitar, and accordion was the fun of seeing old friends like Sheree Fitch, Norene Smiley, and Trudy Carey. It was also great getting to know the wonderful team of festival organizers, including Linda Little, whose book I wrote about in my last blog post and she’s as lovely as I hoped one of my favourite Canadian authors would be.

Thanks to Norene for inviting me to take part in WordPlay, the part of the festival that caters to young readers, and to all who hosted me and the other performers so well. Thanks too to Canada Council for funding the event.

If you’re in the vicinity of River St. John, N.S on July 12, you’ll want to plan on attending East Meets West, the segment of Read by the Sea for adult readers.

Wherever else you might be this summer, I hope you’ll find yourself between the covers of some great books. Happy reading!
