Did You Miss the Launch of The Girl Who Loved Giraffes?

Hearty thanks to the over 100 people who tuned in to hear multiple perspectives on this picture book biography last week. Editor Bev Brenna interviewed me, illustrator François Thisdale, the book's subject Anne Innis Dagg, and Anne's daughter Mary. We got brief perspectives from cohosts Fitzhenry & Whiteside and The Bookshelf too.

Watch the recording and you'll hear excerpts, learn surprising info about details in the art, and fun facts about giraffes and about what's being done to help save them from becoming extinct. (Did you know giraffes are very much endangered?)

Anne traveled alone to study giraffes in Africa in 1956, an unheard of thing for a woman to do at that time. She became the world's leading expert on giraffes. Now in her 80s, she is still passionate about giraffes and about removing barriers based on gender.

Why not set aside a relaxing hour to enjoy the fun. Reviews of the launch -- "amazing" "insightful" "uplifting" -- suggest it will be time well spent!

[…] The launch was terrific because not only did we get to hear from Kathy Stinson the author, but also from Anne Innis Dagg herself. I also enjoyed listening to Francois Thisdale talk about how he created such beautiful illustrations for the book. He put so many details into each drawing. […]
