How I Spend My Time, Apparently

My daughter was once babysitting her nephew, my youngest grandson. For his bedtime stories that night, he chose what he called “the violin books” (The Man with the Violin and The Dance of the Violin).

K: Do you know who wrote these?

D: Who?

K: Grandma!

D: Yeah, she’s always writing books.

Not precisely true — but I do always have at least one writing project on the go! Which helps explain why I’ve had six books and a poem published in the six years since that conversation, and how it happens that I have two books slated for publication this year.

I haven’t told Daniel about the two picture book manuscripts that are currently awaiting responses from publishers, along with six poems and a novel. I’d never convince him that what he said at the age of six isn’t true! (I have to hope that all the “No” responses – they happen far more often than “Yeses” – don’t all come in at once.)

Next month, my blog post will offer a sneak peek of my upcoming spring book release, so if you haven’t already signed up to receive my posts by email (about once a month), I hope you will!
